How a Little ‘Thank You’ Can Make a Big Difference

1 Corinthians 15:58 says, “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable.  Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”  Paul is emphasizing something the Corinthian church already knows, and yet he explicitly makes the point anyway, “for you know nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”  Week in and week out dozens and dozens of WMBC volunteers give their time and energy to fix cars, fill supply bins, practice piano, memorize lines, pray for the hurting, make coffee, encourage young leaders, pick up toys, put together meeting agendas, prepare to Bible Studies, and visit the elderly.

And yes, we know on some level that somehow it all impacts God’s Kingdom on, but just like the Corinthian church, sometimes we just need someone to speak it out loud for us!  I’m amazed how a simply note of encouragement, “Thank you for the message on Sunday,” can be such a powerful motivator in my life.  Each week this May as part of Volunteer Appreciation Month we’ll have lists of volunteer teams that we would for you pray for and we encourage you to go the extra mile and speak it out!  This week, take a moment to recognize those volunteers that have made an impact in your family, and personally thank them or write out your prayer for them, let them know their hard work is making a difference.  We’re not about filling slots just to make a program happen, our vision is that our WMBC ministry teams will be life giving communities of belonging in which you’ll not only feel like you’re making a difference for God’s Kingdom as we dream together of new ideas and ways to lead people to passionately love and follow Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.  But also that you’ll feel connected into a church family that knows you, cares for you and desires for you to grow in your faith.  We’ve got amazing volunteers; let’s let them know it this week.

Remember, a little thank you can make a big difference.
