WMBC is a part of the Mennonite Brethren community of churches in Canada, in fact, we’re the first one (1888)! The Mennonite Brethren Church was born within the Mennonite renewal in Russia in 1860, and is rooted in the Anabaptist movement of the 16th century Reformation, a movement that sought to recapture the faith and life of the New Testament church.

We have a shared Confession of Faith that shows our desire to center our lives on Jesus, be accountable to Scripture, and to be guided by the Holy Spirit.

mb distinctives
people of a new way of life
What unites us is not an ethnic or cultural heritage (as much as many of us love to wait in line for “all you can eat” verenkje!); rather we’ve been transformed into a new way of life by our faith in Jesus Christ experienced through the powerful indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We have been changed, and our primary allegiance now is to is Christ’s Kingdom and his global church.
people of mission
Since Jesus is the only way of salvation, we place a high value on being an active witness in our world. The church is called to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to observe all his commandments. As a result of our outreach efforts, our largest MB Conferences are now in India and the Democratic Republic of Congo!
people of the word
We believe the Bible is the authoritative word of God, and our interpretation of Scripture is Christ-centered. The person, teaching, and life of Jesus Christ brings continuity and clarity to both the Old and New Testaments.
people of peace
The mission of Jesus was to reconcile humans with God, each other, and the world. Peace and reconciliation are at the heart of the Gospel. We choose to live in a way that nurtures wholeness, joy, and peace. Instead of hating our enemies and ignoring neighbors, we seek love and justice to all.
people of the covenant community
We believe that to be the best versions of ourselves, God designed us humans to need community! As MBs we are committed to helping and supporting each other. We care for one another, pray together, hold each other accountable, have fun together, and study God’s Word together. We need each of our gifts, voices, and passions to be the body of Christ.
